Dr. Kostas Alexandridis is a GIS Analyst with the County of Orange Public Works, OC Survey Geospatial Services. He holds a PhD in Natural Resource Policy (Purdue University), and is a Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP). Dr. Alexandridis current work involves the study of complex spatial systems and GISci, spatial artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning, computational and spatially-explicit geostatistical and geodemographic analyses. Before joining the County of Orange, Dr. Alexandridis served as a Director of the Institute for Geocomputational Analysis and Statistics (GeoCAS) of the University of the Virgin Islands, and Assistant Professor in a joint appointment between the Department of Computer and Computational Sciences and the Center for Marine and Environmental Studies at the University of the Virgin Islands. He also worked as a senior research scientist with the Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organization (CSIRO) with the Government of Australia. He has authored and published many peer-reviewed papers in international journals, has led extramurally funded research projects, including the National Science Foundation, and has served as an editorial board member of the Elsevier’s Journal of Environmental Modeling and Software. He is an IEEE member, a IUCN CEM commission member, and has served as climate science advisor for the governor of the US Virgin Islands.
